Nature and Wildlife

The Verandas is proud to be a stop on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Stone Bluffs Loop Birding Trail.   We have a heron and several other species of birds that visit our pond and gardens each year.  There are eagle watching opportunities on Highway 29 in Llano County and with the Vanishing Texas River Cruise on Lake Buchanan.

We are a short drive from other birding trail areas that offer other beautiful natural features, including Longhorn Caverns State Park and Inks Lake State Park.

Of course there are wildflowers and deer and other wildlife in these areas! Drives down Highway 281 are popular in the spring to view bluebonnets.

In town, the Verandas pond and gardens are always a peaceful retreat, but Hamilton Creek City Park is also relaxing - fountains, picnic areas, and cute little ducks!

Near Inks Lake is the Inks Dam National FIsh Hatchery.  Tours are sometimes available -- call them ahead of time to verify!
