History

Local legend has it that the original limestone part of the house was built in 1856 as a stagecoach stop for Burnet, Texas. It also served as a hotel for the city during the 1800s, and it served as the home for two early Burnet families, the Calverts and the Galloways. The original hand-dug well on the front porch once provided water for horses and travelers. This rich history has earned The Verandas Guest House recognition as a historical location in the City of Burne t and the State of Texas.
